Storage Hillingdon Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage Hillingdon in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Hillingdon is firmly committed to conducting business ethically, with integrity, and in compliance with all applicable laws. We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking in any form. This commitment applies to every part of our organisation and to all third parties who supply goods or services to us.
We expect all individuals working for us or on our behalf, at every level, to share this commitment. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated with the utmost seriousness and may result in the termination of commercial relationships or disciplinary action, including dismissal where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Hillingdon provides storage facilities and related services. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, property and facility management, maintenance contractors, security services, equipment suppliers, utilities, cleaning services, and professional advisers. We recognise that some sectors and geographies may present greater risks of labour exploitation, and we are progressively strengthening our approach to managing these risks.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We are committed to working only with suppliers who uphold high standards of ethics and labour practices. Our supplier on-boarding processes require potential suppliers to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, human rights, and modern slavery legislation and that they have suitable policies and controls in place.
Where appropriate, we incorporate contractual provisions requiring suppliers to:
Act consistently with our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking, maintain transparent records relating to labour practices, and notify us promptly of any actual or suspected breaches within their operations or supply chains. Failure to meet these expectations may lead to a review or termination of the relationship.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage Hillingdon undertakes proportionate monitoring of higher-risk suppliers. This may include requesting information on workforce arrangements, recruitment practices, use of labour agencies, and evidence of right to work checks. Where we identify elevated risks, we may conduct targeted audits or request additional documentation and assurances.
We will continue to develop our audit and monitoring processes to improve visibility of labour standards in our supply chains and to support suppliers in raising their own standards. Where issues are identified, we seek to work collaboratively to remedy them while reserving the right to suspend or end the relationship if necessary.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Storage Hillingdon encourages all employees, workers, contractors, and suppliers to report any concern about modern slavery or human trafficking at the earliest possible stage. Concerns can be raised through internal management channels or via our whistleblowing procedures, which allow issues to be reported confidentially.
All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Where appropriate, we will work with relevant authorities and specialist organisations to support investigations and remedy any harm identified.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier engagement. Training and guidance focus on recognising warning signs of exploitation, understanding our policies, and knowing how to report concerns.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage Hillingdon recognises that addressing modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continuous improvement. Each year, we will review this Statement and our related policies, supplier controls, and training programmes to assess their effectiveness and identify opportunities for enhancement.
Our annual review will consider changes in our business activities and supply chains, adjustments in legal or regulatory requirements, audit and monitoring findings, and any reported concerns or incidents. Where necessary, we will update our approach to ensure it remains robust, proportionate, and aligned with best practice.
This Statement has been approved by the management of Storage Hillingdon and will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
